We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer (NPI) to support manufacturing operations within a GMP pharmaceutical environment. This role will provide technical expertise for control systems, lead automation activities for New Product Introductions (NPIs), and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the facility.

Key Responsibilities
Control System Support
- Provide day-to-day technical support for manufacturing control systems, including troubleshooting, patching, optimisation, and stability improvements.
- Support qualification, commissioning, and start-up activities for new equipment and systems.
- Manage the lifecycle of control systems in accordance with GAMP 5 standards.
- Lead and support continuous improvement projects in collaboration with process engineering, technical support, and cross-functional teams.
- Assist in the development of future integrations between control systems, MES, and ERP systems.
- Prepare proposals and recommendations for long-term maintenance, upgrades, and system improvements.
- Ensure adherence to 21 CFR Part 11, EU Annex 11, and other regulatory requirements for automated systems.
- Follow all EHS&E policies, procedures, and best practices.
- B.Eng degree or Postgraduate Diploma in a relevant technical discipline.
- 2 years experience in process automation within a GMP pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with vendor-packaged equipment and automated system compliance requirements.
- Proven experience supporting plant start-ups and/or NPIs, with the ability to lead automation activities.
- Strong experience configuring and troubleshooting:
- PLC systems
- SCADA/HMI applications
- Knowledge of industrial control networks such as Profinet, Profibus, Modbus, CANBus.
- Understanding of Ethernet-based network architecture.
- Experience integrating with plant historians (e.g., Ignition, OSI-PI) using OPC interfaces.
- Strong knowledge of control system lifecycle management including backups, disaster recovery, access control, configuration management, and change control.
- Working knowledge of Windows OS administration.
