The Automation and Controls Engineer will provide technical support for the site in the field of automation.
They will proactively resolve technical issues and collaborate as part of the wider engineering team in the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and strategic manufacturing improvements.

They will proactively resolve technical issues and collaborate as part of the wider engineering team in the delivery of continuous improvement initiatives and strategic manufacturing improvements.
Duties:
- Provide frontline support to operations for Automation and Controls components within the manufacturing process.
- Identify, evaluate & implement opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Provides support in the selection of new technologies to improve plant efficiencies.
- Participates within project teams, provides technical support and makes informed decisions on hardware and architecture selection.
- Proactively resolve technical issues before they impact business priorities.
- Analyse, understand, fault-find and modify where necessary automation software in line with the sites quality management system.
- Under supervision develop, test, and install control’s software as part of a highly automated and validated production environment.
- Work within a cross functional multi-discipline team environment.
- Ability to use data and metrics to anticipate problems and make data driven decisions in response.
- Support the wider engineering team in completion of project delivery tasks assigned.
- Provide on the job training/support to new team members as required.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Level 8 Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineer, Computer Science or related field with equivalent technical experience is required.
- Has 0-2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated ability to provide technical solutions for complex problems through automation and controls knowledge.
- Working knowledge of PLC and HMI control systems is essential.
- Experience with Allen Bradley and Siemens controls systems would be advantageous.
- Basic understanding of ISA95 and ISA88 design/implementation principles.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Capable of working autonomously or as part of a multi-disciplined team in an aggressive, dynamic and results motivated environment.
- A team player, with a flexible approach.
- Must be willing to source, investigate and implement technological and automation advances.
- Experience in an FDA regulated or regulated industry beneficial.
