Responsibilities:
- Drive the implementation of initiatives to foster a strong construction safety culture.
- Monitor and ensure fulfilment of client’s legal obligations are met at all stages of construction.
- Work with Main Contractor and Sub-Contractor teams to drive overall Construction EHS program implementation.
- Identifying and mitigating environmental and safety risks at construction sites, as well as the transition from design to construction to operational activities.
- Review the ongoing programs, identify areas for improvements and work towards continual improvements.
- Undertake documentation review (including construction H&S plans, traffic management plans, risk assessments and permits)
- Provide regular on-site project presence.
- Undertake Health and Safety compliance evaluations, inspections, and audits at prescribed intervals.
- Develop and deliver safety training as required.
- Monitor EHS performance and intervene/improve where needed.
- Investigate accidents, incidents and near miss events
- Attend weekly, monthly, and quarterly project reviews related to construction safety.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification related to Construction Health and Safety.
- Qualified to NEBOSH Diploma level or equivalent.
- Experience in managing construction safety across large multi-site businesses.
- Effectively engage and influence other functional leaders and their teams, to build buy-in to EHS strategies and change processes.
- Experienced in operating throughout all stages of the construction lifecycle.
- Proficient in the implementation of Safety Management Systems and safety reporting.
- Project management qualification / skills.
- Strong communication skills.
